Course Overview

This is the Executive Protection course that changed an industry. It is the world-renowned 7-Day Program, continuously updated since 1978, and offers more than 100 hours of instruction with an emphasis on practical hands-on learning and realistic exercises.

Each student will learn sophisticated, innovative skills and techniques to assure you perform like a pro on real-world, protective assignments.

This course meets and exceeds the Virginia Department of Criminal Justice (VA DCJS) 032E requirement to become a VA DCJS Registered Personal Protection Specialist.

What protection skills and techniques are taught during the 7-Day Program?

  • Perform a protective assignment with a principal in a real-world environment.
  • Engage in unarmed Defensive Tactics for Executive Protection (DT4EP) for close-in protection problems, embarrassments and attacks.
  • Operate a provided motor vehicle, employing original defensive, offensive, motorcade and escort driving techniques.
  • Practice movements, signals, positioning, arrivals, and departures in scenarios with principals, featuring one-on-one, two-on-one and team protective scenarios.
  • Conduct house, office, vehicle and building searches employing state of the art techniques.
  • Acquire the skills of orienteering, map reading and movements in emergency situations.

What preventive strategies, countermeasures, and operational guidelines are taught during the 7-Day Program?

  • Prepare for an overnight estate or hotel protection mission.
  • Take part in the design and plan of risk management and threat assessment procedures for principal protection.
  • Receive information on new protection technology with wireless alarm systems, and physical security concerns.
  • Work on advance surveys and escort missions protecting principals in crowds and during actual vehicle movements throughout the area.

What counter-terrorism training is taught during the 7-Day Program?

  • Participate in presentations on clandestine explosive devices and learn to locate and identify them on vehicles and in buildings.
  • Gain knowledge of surveillance, surveillance detection and practice counter surveillance techniques.
  • Train and become familiar with ballistics, chemical agents, protective vests, and useful equipment.

What kind of medical/injury training is taught?

  • Learn emergency medical techniques for attacks or accidents and proper injured party movement methods.
  • Achieve a CPR/AED Certification or renewal.

What critical “soft skills” are taught during the 7-Day Program?

  • Obtain contemporary knowledge about dress, protocol, placement, personal appearance, manners, conduct, dining, etiquette, and relationships with others.
  • Be taught how to handle paparazzi, media and friendly or aggressive approaches from fans.
  • Be aware of specialized protective methods for children family members, visitors, and household staff and in offices, on estates and during recreational activities.
  • Consider legal issues with respect to carrying and use of weapons, deadly force, and defensive measures.
  • Gain knowledge of surveillance, surveillance detection and practice counter surveillance techniques.
